AboutThe International Conference for Young Quantum Information Scientists (YQIS) aims to bring together young (PhD and early career postdoc) scientists working on quantum information science through a yearly conference.
The mission of YQIS is to give young researchers in quantum information science the opportunity to actively participate in and organise a high-quality international conference. YQIS is organised by young scientists for young scientists. Young researchers get the chance at YQIS to present their work in the form of invited and contributed talks and posters, as well as to meet their peers and a few invited senior researchers. At the same time, as YQIS is organised by young scientists, they get an early chance to get experience in organising large-scale international events and through this experience expand their international network.
The scientific scope of YQIS is theoretical and experimental quantum information science, broadly understood, including (but not restricted to)
Quantum computing and simulation
Quantum cryptography and communication
Quantum technology hardware development
Quantum thermodynamics and open quantum systems
Quantum foundations
Quantum machine learning and machine learning for quantum science
Quantum metrology, sensing and imaging
Pure and applied quantum information theory
Solid-state quantum systems
Device nano-fabrication
Cold/Ultracold atomic and molecular physics
Quantum photonics
Previous editions of the conference include YQIS25, hosted by ICFO (Barcelona), or YQIS24, hosted by INRIA (Paris).

Vienna: useful informationPublic transport
The conference venue is located at the main building of TU Wien in Karlsplatz, which has direct connection to lines U1, U2 and U4 of the underground (U-Bahn) train system. Additionally, reaching the venue in bus or tram is possible (see this link for more information).
Tickets: several options (24/48/72hrs) are available in the Wiener Linien App. It is convenient to buy a weekly ticket, which has a cost of 25,20€, and includes unlimited trips within the city.
Airport: the main airport of Vienna is the Schwechat International Airport (VIE). From there, one can reach the city with the S7 train to Wien Mitte / Landstraße in about 20 minutes. There, U-Bahn connection to lines U3 and U4 is possible. The ticket for this journey can be bought in the ÖBB App, and the price is reduced (2,20€) if one also has the weekly ticket (you must select the “Ticket Stadtverkehr Wien (Kernzone) exkl. Jahreskarte” discount type).
An alternative option to reach the city center is the CAT, which has higher prices and is privately operated.
Bratislava airport: there exists the alternative to fly to the Bratislava Airport (BTS), which is relatively close to Vienna and can be sometimes more affordable. To reach Vienna from there, you first need to take the bus 61 to Bratislava hl.st., and then take the REX 8 train to Wien Hbf. You can book your ticket via the ÖBB App.
